My new album cover.

MY NEW ALBUM

While I am not much of a fan of the FaceBook memes--being an old, angry, curmudgeonly sort of guy--I did enjoy this one, forwarded to me by my pal Xian.

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit "random"
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article that comes up is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very LAST quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on "explore the last seven days"
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
The third picture in the top row, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use PhotoShop or whatever to put it all together.

5 - Post it to FB with this text in the "caption" or "comment" and TAG the friends you want to join in.

The result of my efforts is posted above!

  10. Wow. I'm always surprised how things like this float around. I first heard this over a year ago (someone even crated a page then to automatically generate the info: http://rbng.coldforged.org/). Then all of a sudden in the past week or two it finally exploded. Kinda like a really slow delay bomb.

  11. Sclager totally sucks. They're just a bunch of sellouts now. I was totally into them when they were indie, but now that they're on a major label they suck. I remember seeing them @ the 8x10, and they totally rocked, they even did a cover of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" and they tore it up. But now they're just cashing in and playing the hits for all the lemmings out there.

    FUCK SCHLAGER!!

Somehow the results I'm getting sound quite plausible.
I'm hoping to get some nonsense next.

  17. I was glad to finally find a crazy combination, but now that I look at the finished result, it does look like a sort of plausible hardcore album. This meme is magic.

And the track list, based on the rule I heard about which is basically "google the name of your band and album. go to the third page. select the song titles out of the text of the 10 results on that page":

    2. Army - Small Wars Council
    3. A Cross Dressing Pakistani Television Presenter
    4. Margate FC, What More Could You Want?
    5. MELBOURNE, Jan 18

  25. Naming our band after another band's song was kind of lame, but I like the title of our first album.

  44. I used to work at a classic Rock station here in NY, and we used to get these demo albums from these no-name bands daily. They all thought we would drop the over-analyzed, field-tested, and pre-programmed playlist in place of their "never heard of your crap" B-music. These look and sound exactly like every single one of those albums.
