In these challenging times...

...there is only one man who can save us. No, I don't mean That One, though he's a close second. Who I mean of course is a man who shined briefly on the Internet awhile back, inspiring and enlightening all those who witnessed him in his 15-minutes of Internet meme glory. But we have not heard from him since. And now we need him more than ever.

O Technoviking, we beseech thee: Come back to us, lead us, your flock, out of the path of darkness... and into the light!

And as we pay our respects once again to our glorious leader, alway remember, my brethren: Technoviking does not dance to the music. The music dances to Technoviking!

Technoviking? Five minutes away from Shawn and you're already four years behind on internet memes! Next thing we know Greenspeak will be LOLCats 4 Lyfe and you'll have OVER 9000 comments on each one.

Nice. On a side note, I saw you were listening to David Byrne. I have a chance to go see him live in December and was wondering if you've caught one of his shows since "Stop Making Sense". I remember in one of your old posts you saw that live. Anyway, if you have, give me a thumbs up or down. I think this one is a tour of Brian Eno songs.

Green,

Being the Amazon addict you are, you've probably seen it the 33 1/3 edition of DNOTD. Maybe not as deep as the econo dvd but it's pretty cool all the same.

Check it:

that paper the guy hands him at 2:00 was his acceptance letter to every ivy league college ever. As he tore it to pieces, he said:

"I do not require your education. Wherever my followers are, all they must do is call on me and I shall be there to lead them in dance."

Brynn said...

I dont get why this is funny or entertaining. Can someone explain?

Jeff Green said...

Do not question whether this is funny or not. The Technoviking will not be amused.

And Ben, I know it's an old meme. I said that up front! I just felt like bringing him back. SUE ME.

Oh man, good old Technoviking.

He looks kinda like Mattias Nilsson from the Mercenaries games.

Ah, those delicious jiggling man boobs...

I didn't know anything about Technoviking until now.

Jeff, have you managed to install Peggle on your work PC yet?

I wonder if the people at 1:53 knew they were cutting across the greatest event in human history.

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the Minutemen heads up. Went and got it. Good stuff. As a guitar player, I'm impressed with D. Boon's work. And as a Geddy Lee fan, I love cool and expressive bass play.

As for That One, go Obama! He's been dominating over the past month, and thank God. Check out the stats here:

Has anybody here ever been Ric Rolled?

The One Who Can Save Us - I thought I was going to be Ric Rolled here, for sure. Maybe I'm starting to get paranoid. It's been a whole five minutes since somebody last Ric Rolled me.

But alas, the U-tube video was real - or rather, thank god it was 'real'. The frightening thing is that the previous time I got Ric Rolled, I kind of dug it... I mean, I watched THE ENTIRE video.

And then for the rest of the day I couldn't get those lyrics out of my head...

Were no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitments what Im thinking of
You wouldnt get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how Im feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've know each other for so long
Your hearts been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know whats been going on
We know the game and were gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Dont tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give
Never gonna give, give you up

I know this is the wrong blog post to post this on, but you know, I gotta say it. Jeff, you are awesome. I am 14 and have been reading your magazine ever since my brother brought it home when i was 7 years old. I was instantly hooked by the amazingly sharp writing and humor in the magazine. You and Robert Coffey, however, were my favorite, as you gave the magazine a sort of unique character that I found every other publication was lacking. Although I'm upset that you left Ziff and that you won't be on podcast anymore, I'm glad that you're still here, still posting and still providing us with the wit and humor that made you famous. Thanks, Jeff, and thanks for adding some fun to my life.

That's the techno Viking?
I have never seen it before. I guess I have now : P

Why have I never seen this?

The guy reminds me of some of the more bizarre NPCs from Bioware games. In fact, he belongs in a bar in Mass Effect or KOTOR, or even Baldur's Gate if you take away the techno.

Allan said...

He's like one of the main guys from the Mercenaries game series.

May we all strive to be like our great leader. All hail Technoviking!

I actually thought that was Jaime Hyneman from Mythbusters for a second. It turn out he's about fifteen hundred times as awesome. I'd also like to say that Jeff, You're an inspiration to us all. Technoviking ain't got shit on Jeff Green. Keep up the blog, and if you ever get a chance to be on GWJ Podcast again, please take it! I miss my weekly dosage of Green.

Is this a preview for Mercenaries 3?

Kadayi said...

Even if it's an old Meme, Techo Viking is cool (as well as completely ripped), and deserves not to be forgotten. I'd also say it's not so much a case as him looking like the Mercenaries 2 guy, but the Mercenaries 2 guy looking like him. It's probably a homage in fact.

He stands up for the little guy, keeps in shape, will promise to wrestle with tough issues. Technoviking for 08' indeed.
