Random nonsense.

Okay, so yes, I am still at work. I'M SORRY. But I haven't really left my desk all day, except to go fetch a fine lunch of cheese steak and curly fries from the EA Cafe, plus I've been doing a bunch of kinda tedious data entry, so I'm going to take a break here to mention three things that made me LOL today.

1. Tina Fey. God I love her. Since I stopped watching Saturday Night Live something like 20 years ago, I missed out on her when she was a regular there. And I missed out on 30 Rock, at first, until my friend Dana kept badgering me about it and I finally watched some online and realized she was right. Today she had a great statement about Sarah Palin, which I will quote in full: "We're gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I'm done. I can't do that for four years. And by 'I'm done,' I mean I'm leaving Earth."

2. The second LOL came from presidential candidate John McCain, who said this: "The national media has written us off. Sen. Obama is measuring the drapes...My friends, we've got them just where we want them." Okay, so let's see if I understand this, and keep in mind I'm not that good at politics. According to most national polls, you are being beaten by about 10 percentage points, and many experts are agreeing that Obama clearly has the necessary number of electoral votes to win. And....this is just where you want them? Good strategy!! After you lose the election and have some free time, please play me in Age of Empires!

3. BAH. EDITED. Number three turned out not to work, because Blogger doesn't seem to like animated GIFs. Instead, I present you with this---which is exactly what it's like to work at EA!!!!!!!

Okay, everybody---back to work!

That commercial is awesome.

Tina Fey is a goddess.

If there's anything have a major in political science lets me be an expert on, it's how often being ten points behind in the polls with an election less than a month away means absolutely nothing! Nothing I tell you!

..oh, except that you will probably lose the election. It does tell you that.

Christopher Miller said...

The last 8 years have nearly killed me, with the dipshits in the white house. Bleh.

If McCain and Palin do win, I won't be able to survive any way besides day to day. Everyone, please go vote. Even if you know Obama's going to win your state. Go vote. Even if you know he's going to lose your state, go vote. Especially if it will be close in your state, you must go vote. Please.

P.S. Make sure you tighten up those Sims 3 graphics, Jeff.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen that Westwood College commercial... it haunts me

Nate said...

Jeff, make sure to tighten up those graphics on level 3, or there will be hell to pay.

Have you heard about the couple attacks on Muslims in the U.S.? Wonder what's going to happen to Obama when he gets elected....

Patrick said...

Meh. A politics blog. I was kind of lead to believe that you were better than that.

Jeff Green said...

Better than that? Pardon me? We have an election in less than a month. Yeah, I'm gonna comment on it. Anyhoo, this was just about comedy...not political opinions. I suggest you deal.

Anonymous said...

PWNED! Great blog, Jeff. That commercial had me LOL.

Anonymous said...

Tighten up the graphics!

HAHAHAHAHHAA!!!

I don't know if you've ever stomached seeing Palin actually string words together at an attempt to be coherent...but...it hurts...it huuuuuuuurts so badly.

Good post.

So if the election is a done deal why bother voting?

Because it's not a done deal.

Yes, anything can happen from now till election day. Even though I disagree with some, if not most, of Obama's views, I do agree that we need change in this country starting with the White House.

Jeff, like I told you in the last letter of the month at GFW, stick to gaming. It's what you know. ;)

It's my personal blog. I'll write about whatever I want. I'm pointing out amusing things that were said. That's it. Nothing really too complicated or controversial. If you can't handle it, then bail on this blog.

Good post, keep em coming.

Should be setting that comment as a macro'ed answer. :)

Having a hard time picturing you as a QA slave. I know it's not what you were set out to do, but I'm trying to amuse myself with the thought. Interesting.

Flyer fans were discusted with her being at our opening night. She's highly unpopular in my city, plus, the dipshit is a Rangers fan. For being such a hockey mom, she doesn't seem to understand the history of the Flyers very well...yes, she was booed but unfortunately they cranked up her music to drown it out. :(

Instead of an election, let's nominate TechnoViking. One round for each candidate, winner takes all in Dance Dance Revolution.

Gentry's right...if McCain and that compulsive winker Palin win, I'm off to the Netherlands.

Vahe Isaganyan said...

You know...McCain should not be down by 10 points. He should be down by 20 +!

It amazes me how some of the hicks who live here would vote for the people who have fuc*** them over for the last 8 years just out of "brand" loyalty.

The difference between the audiences in the democratic and Republican rallies are huge. You have the civilized people with the Dems and the stupid hicks and bimbos with the GOP.

"Obama is an Arab! I don't trust those Arabs! I'm scared of him!"
-Some stupid 70 year old bitch at McCains rally.

Good god...

Anyways that commercial was epic :)

Jeff, I thought your comments on the current election were funny...in fact it would be funny to see McCain even attempt to play Age against you.

For those who don't want to hear Jeff's opinion on things other than games...you know where the door is, don't let it hit you on the ass on the way out.

Vahe Isaganyan said...

Oh and for those of you complaining that Jeff Green is writing about politics...F YOU! You people are part of the reason why we are in such a mess. All you care about are ribs, beer, and a joystick.

I have a suggestion. LEARN ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR COUNTRY!

Don't be a "Joe six pack."

If you do not want me to offend the idiots on your blog Jeff please let me know :P

I don't know if you've seen this:

But it made me gay for Damon.

That link I posted is Damon talking about Palin, by the way. Just thought I should clarify, in case you thought I was a fan boy randomly posting trailers for the Bourne series or something! lol.

Jeff Green said...

the thing is. I'm barely talking about politics. I mentioned 2 things that made me laugh. I promise you that if Obama were down 10 points and said he had the opponents "right where he wanted them", I'd be laughing at him too.

Joril said...

I should say that people over here share those sentiments about palin.

Christopher Miller said...

Dude, guys, shut up. This is Jeff Green's personal blog. If you don't like what he says, go the fuck away.

Keep up the nice posts, Jeff. Screw anyone who's going to come whine about what you post.

Unknown said...

You tell em Jeff!! Screw the haters who complain about your PERSONAL blog. They choose to come here and read it.

I love it and keep it up!!! The Westwood comercial is classic.

Anonymous said...

You are of course right Jeff. But as you know, when it come to politics and the internet, some people are crazy. All you have to do is even suggest an affiliation.
It's not unique to politics of course, just most prevelent there. Say for instance, you said that the 360 outsold the PS3 in a particular month. There would be people asking why you hate the PS3, and saying your an idiot for doing so.
It's the whole 'you can have any opinion you want, as long as it's the same as mine' thing. Sad really.

-WiFi Pirate- said...

I had to laugh a a quote the other day from Palin too. She said something to the effect of "I am looking forward to being VP so that Tina Fey can keep having new material." Um... wouldn't that mean that you are constantly saying stupid things?

Slapshot said...

omfg that commercial is hilarious. What capped the humor for me was right at the end when the words, "Not intended for residents of Massachusetts or Texas" came up.

Its good to still see you blogging Jeff. I was afraid you would start hot & heavy and then disappear. Still miss you @ 1UP, but I'm glad you haven't completely disappeared from my gaming life....

Unknown said...

Jeff, please don't turn your blog into a political flame war... we get it already, you are from Berkeley... we know your political leanings from that already, i.e. socialist.

We didn't read GFW (which is where we know you from) because of your political leanings.

Jeff, please turn your blog into whatever you want to... we enjoy anything that you put into print, since you know...it is your blog and all.

We read GFW (which is where we know you from (and 1UP)) because of your interesting and amusing take on games and even the world.

As a long time reader of CGW/GFW and listener of the Brodeo, I'm glad that your transition seems to have been a smooth one.

But you know what? We can't have you making snarky comments and expressing your opinion on a personal blog! How dare you! This blog needs to be an ideologically barren description of the contents of EA's magical cafeteria, your current office decorations, and perhaps we'll allow brief bits about the ride to work (though living in Berkley who knows what that might entail).

Miss you over at 1up but the best of luck going forward. Can't wait to see what you and the people at EA create next.

Michael Adamek said...

Sorry Jeff, it looks like some people aren't as smart as I take them for at times. The "angry ones" are just scared of the world so it lashes out as misguided anger. It amazes me too that the observational humor is lost here.

Spore is already getting expansions? Oh man...

ANIMATED GIFs AND YOU
=====================
Jeff, you can actually get the Animated GIFs to work but that entails going into the Edit HTML tab of your post and hard-coding the source URL in. Blogger puts some weird random fucktard tags around your images that prevent them from animating. I had to work-around that stuff to post my bitch-fest about the boob-inflating scene from Terminator 3, which required an animated GIF to display the full glory of that scenes ineptitude.

Grubber said...

John McCain would kick your ass in AoE. I hear he was tutored by Genghis Khan himself.

(He's quite old)

Jeff Green said...

Mrchupon: Yay! Thanks for the GIF help. Will try it!

Felix: You're still not getting it. This isn't my 1up blog. It's my personal blog. I am grateful and happy that people I don't know, like yourself, come here to read it. So thank you. But I am going to express my opinion here sometimes, and we may not always agree. You're gonna have to get used to that, I'm afraid, or not stick around. Also: Berkeley isn't "socialist." Also: Once again, if Obama had said what McCain had said, I would have made fun of him too.

What's so hard to understand here, people?

Slapshot said...

Jeff, you should stop defending yourself against the overly sensitive. People who can't laugh at the political process, no matter what side you're on, are wound too tightly anyway and aren't worth the keystrokes. D.C. has been a general joke for a while now...this isn't news.

Unknown said...

I know it's not 1up.com... but you are just inviting a flame war in the comments section... But maybe that's your master plan... to get more "clicks" than the PC articles on 1up got. :)

And the "socialist" comment was a joke... everyone knows Berkley = communist!

Jeff Green said...

Felix: Okay, we're cool. :)

I THINK WHAT THIS THREAD (AND COUNTRY) NEEDS IS

MORE
TECHNOVIKING!

Unknown said...

It is absurd of people trying to tell Jeff what he should & should not put in his own blog. He has the right to share his own opinion especially since the only thing he did say was what he found amusing. Nothing more. He has also shared his opinion on here for his love of House, A Sweet Kawasaki bike, & his EA job so are there going to be a bunch of Grey's Anatomy, Harley Davison & anti EA fanatics on here bitching about how he is wrong for stating his opinion? Go somewhere else trolls!!

For what it's worth, I plan to vote for Obama. But, I'm not terribly frightened if McCain gets in. Looking at his policies, there is a lot I can agree with.

I think that even if McCain gets elected, he'll be a pretty decent President. Palin on the other hand is another story.

Hey, guys, listen, this is not the way to get Jeff angry, okay - no, what you have to do is be critical of the Harry Potter books.

That'll make him REALLY angry.

Trust me.

It will.

Geesh, some people! Don't worry , once Obama gets elected we have ways to deal with people like

PS...the GFW crew took great care to avoid political bantering so Jeff has all the creditbility in my book..

Another awesome game school commercial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwlE1aASc4g

All of those commercials are even better when you start to work in the game industry for real and realize that that it's exactly like that, all the time!

Right Jeff? I'm sure you've tightened up plenty of graphics since you started. But you better hurry up, because EA has tons of other games they need designed.

Great post Jeff. Tina rocks. That's two tina's I know now who do huzaah! And also Yay!

and @ Gorikka

I hate to break it to you, but The Netherlands is just as messed up Politically as any other nation in the western world. Just do a search on Geert Wilders or Rita Verdonk, and be scared.

Not to mention the mayor of Amsterdam is going all Giuliani on the city and trying to turn it into Disney world : S

Sure there are reasons to come over here, Stroop wafels, poffertjes, Cheese, world famous paintings, gorgeous women. And as a native of Amsterdam I've had a blast. But politics is not one of them. : P

Anonymous said...

Even if the post was an extension of your political views which I wouldn't be very likely to agree with, I wouldn't bitch about it. Tina Fey is funny. I get that.

And I think that ever since the ensemble team got booted, they've been tutoring McCain, so you better watch out!

I would, however, have a problem with a few of the other posters. Stereotype much?

msaeger said...

The reason to not bother voting is because both choices are bad. Which ever gets elected the government will get even bigger.

Anonymous said...

While I'm no longer surprised, I still find it odd how some peeps get hung up on the most random of things. Not that you need an "attaboy" but keep up the blogging whatever the hell you want to blog, Jeff. The vast majority of us here miss reading your words in CGW/GFW and listening to you on the podcast. Besides, it isn't as though you're talking about something REAL important and vital to the well-being of our country, like football or something. Now, you say something bad about the Gators in the college ranks or the Jaguars in the pros, and we'll have a problem, mister!

Anonymous said...

After all, it's your god*$#n blog.

Lots of people here making excuses. Just stop pretending, okay? You know damn well that if Green had said that McCain/Palin was a good ticket you'd be out there bitching about how "Green got all political" and "Green's a fucking moron" and "WORST BLOG EVAR, lol see how I ironically quoted the simpsons and misspelled 'ever' and also said 'lol'". You're happy because he's saying things you agree with, and therefore you're supporting him.

resident UA said...

Why people are so sensitive about politics? Jeff barely said anything. Your brains would probably explode if you read David Jaffe's blog which also "supposed to be about games." :) Why would you go to somebody's personal blog and then complain about content?
